Hebrews 9:22 In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.
The study of Hematology emphasizes the importance of blood in a human body. The blood transports oxygen and nutrients to the body. It carries antibodies that fight infection and also flushes out the waste to our kidneys and liver that filters and cleans the blood. The blood also regulates the temperature of the body. Hence, the blood has three main functions: transportation, protection and regulations. Understanding the physical functioning of the blood helps us to comprehend the importance of the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross of Calvary.
The Law required purification with the blood of animals but overtime, the hearts of the people became very callous and ritualistic. “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; …I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats (Isaiah 1:11). The Lord rejected their burnt offerings that were a mere ceremonial formality without repentance. Therefore, the cross ended animal sacrifice as Jesus became our sacrificial lamb and sin offering on the cross. The blood of Jesus is a powerful weapon that delivers us from sins and bloodline curses, heals our sickness and builds our spiritual immunity. Applying the blood is receiving the power of sanctification, purification and protection.
‘Applying the blood’ is not a spiritual jargon and should not be used imprecisely. It has three major functionalities. The blood of Jesus transports the truth from our head to the heart. Our spiritual man is enlightened by the power of the blood. The blood breaks the vicious cycle of curses and protects us from falling back into the pit of sin. The blood is the only antidote to break the chains of bloodline curses. There is no law, formula or remedy to break generational curses other than the blood of Jesus (Galatians 3:13). The blood regulates our temperament and inculcates the nature of Christ in us.
Functionalities of the Blood of Jesus:
1. Purification: The blood of Jesus performs the reverse osmosis process to our spiritual being. It becomes the semi-permeable membrane that filters toxic thoughts, wrong ideologies and generational disease and curses. So, when we apply the blood, we are instilling the reverse osmosis filter that purifies our inner being.
2. Protection: The blood of Jesus carries nutrients and antibodies to build immunity to fight diabolical incursions and incantations. Being infused with the blood of Jesus builds our spiritual stamina to fight against the dark demonic realm.
3. Propitiation: Propitiation is the act of gaining or regaining the favour or goodwill from God our Father. Applying the blood of Jesus is the act of propitiation. We are accepted, forgiven and empowered by the precious blood of Jesus.
The blood of Jesus purifies, protects and propitiates.
Colossians 1:13-14a For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
Prayer: Jesus my Saviour, coach me to esteem and love the powerful precious blood that purifies, protects and propitiates me before the Father. Amen
