27 June 2024 – Indelible Credentials – Part 4

Hebrews 11:6b He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

‘Diligence’ in seeking the Lord imprints indelible entries in the Book of Remembrance. The Book of Remembrance is like ‘The Chronicle’ in heaven that reminds the Lord about our sincere love, consistent devotion and incessant perseverance. Earthly awards and heavenly treasures are distributed based on the records in the Book of Remembrance.  Our diligence in seeking the Lord in our private prayer closet is written down in permanent ink in The Chronicles of heaven.

Cornelius was a Roman centurion, a commander in the Italian Regiment of the Roman military. He rejected the pantheon of pagan gods and sincerely worshipped the Living God. He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly (Acts 10:2). The diligence of Cornelius was highlighted by his commitment to the Lord, unassuming generosity and consistent prayer life.

When Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel Ceiling he did not miss even the hidden sides behind the walls to remind us that there is nothing hidden before the eyes of God’s. He was a diligent worker. God sees what humans do not notice and human eyes cannot see.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of ‘Diligence’ is ‘steady, earnest, and energetic effort’. Diligence is not measured by the results but the effortsThe world rewards excellence but the Lord God honours diligence. Consistently spending time in prayer and devotedly devouring the Word of God credits divine rewards. Giving and serving without expecting anything in return is diligence. Commitment to love, pray and serve Him in obscurity is ‘diligence’.

Diligence leaves indelible credentials in the Book of Remembrance and remains as an inerasable documentation before the Lord.

Diligence will emboss Indelible Credentials:

1.         Consistent: Consistency is the qualifier of a diligent worker. We must do what we say and say what we do. Consistency in our words and actions to God and man are bonuses that accumulate air-points in heaven. Consistency in our prayer time every day including special days, sad days, birthdays, festive days, gloomy days and happy days positions us to receive astounding and unexpected rewards from the Lord.

2.         Charitable: Giving generously to those who cannot repay is ‘diligent generosity’. “But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind. Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you” (Luke 14:13-14). Compassionate charity attracts the attention of heaven.

3.         Committed: Diligence fuels commitment. Who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind (Psalm 15:4b).  Keeping our word even when it hurts is diligence that will be richly rewarded.

Diligence, dedication and devotion paints ‘God colours’ in the world and redirects the attention heavenward. Hence, diligence makes indelible credential entries in the Book of Remembrance.

2 Peter 3:14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

Prayer: Father God, I surrender myself to be sincere, consistent and committed to be found by You. Help me to attract the attention of heaven and not seek pomp or popularity. Amen.
