29 June 2024 – Indelible Credentials – Part 6

Zachariah 2:8 For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.

The Book of Remembrance is God’s reference book. It is like a history book that records the good, bad and ugly. God keeps a record of our sufferings, sorrows and our tears. You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. (Psalm 56:8).  Similarly, God does not forget the ill-treatment and mistreatment that we have gone through. They are recorded and God will avenge the enemies who had boorishly attacked, slandered and back-stabbed us. We don’t have to allow the painful persecution to occupy our limited memory space. Forgive and surrender the malign and betrayal to God. Blot it out of your mind; God has it stored in the cloud!

Anyone who touches us is poking into God’s eye and He does not take any harm done to His children lightly.

The Amalekites were a formidable and indomitable nomadic Arabian tribe that assaulted the people who were lagging behind the Israelite throng, on their journey from Egypt to Canaan. Deuteronomy 25:18 When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God. The aged, sick, women with young children would have been faint, weak, weary and the vulnerable ones lagging behind the crowd. After 438 years the Lord God remembered the vicious attack of the Amalekites and instructed the first king of Israel, Saul, to obliterate them. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them (1 Samuel 15:3a). Anyone who messes with God’s kids touches the apple of His eye.

Indelible Records in heaven:

1.         Touch: Those who connive against us, hurt or wound us are not harming us but throwing stones at God our Father. ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25:40). So, don’t take justice into your hands.

2.         Talk: Those who make pejorative comments, slander or defame us are poking their finger into God’s eye. “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm” (Psalm 105:15).         We don’t have to react, retaliate or even justify. The Lord will reprimand those who harm us.

3.         Torture: Those who torture us are persecuting our Saviour. When Jesus met Saul on his way to Damascus, He said, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?’ (Acts 9:4). He did not say, ‘Why are you persecuting my children or the church’? He said, why are you persecuting Me?

Ask God for the grace to forgive and deliberately choose not to remember or recollect the harm done to you. God does not ignore the abuse done to His children.

Psalm 135:14 For the LORD will give justice to his people and have compassion on his servants.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, give me the grace to forgive those who have harmed me and blot it out of my memory with your blood. Amen.
