30 June 2024 – Indelible Credentials – Part 7

Matthew 10:42 “And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you he shall not lose his reward.”

The Book of Remembrance does not miss anything that we do to build the kingdom of God. “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15). Sharing the goodnews of the gospel is not just the responsibility of the pastors, preachers and prophets. Each one of us are called to be evangelists to share the goodness of God. Jesus said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation (Matthew 16:15). The world is our place of influence which should hear, see and witness Christ-likeness in us and through us.

An encouragement to a colleague is recorded in the Book of Remembrance. A kind word to a stressed stranger on the street, a visit to the hospital, encouragement to a brother or a sister and lending a helping hand to the needy should be our lifestyle, however, sharing the gospel and supporting those who spread the gospel should become part of our DNA. Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). The preparation to share sermons is not finding a catchy sermon title and summarizing the topic with three bullet points. Our personal prayer time in our prayer closet is our preparation ground. Our prayer time fills us with the power that we need to speak into a tough situation and touch the spirit of the person in need. Not all of us are trained in a Bible college; however, our time of prayer will prepare us with the numerous sermons that we need to preach everyday to a friend, colleague or a stranger on the street. The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed (Isaiah 50:4).

Indelible Credentials in heaven:

1.         Position: A position as a ‘pastor’ or a ‘preacher’ is not necessary to share the truth of eternal life. Our qualification comes from our walk with the Lord. Prayer positions us to preach. Every word we speak to save souls and bind the broken hearted are recorded in the Book of Remembrance.

2.         Pulpit: We don’t need a pulpit. Our work desk, lunch rooms, walking groups and telephones should become our pulpits to witness and share the love of Jesus.

3.         Preach: We are the living Bible many read and if they don’t witness us living the Bible, our preaching will be in vain. “Preach the Gospel at all times; use words if necessary” – Francis of Assisi.

Our burden for souls to know the truth and our efforts to save the lost will leave indelible shining credentials in the Book of Remembrance.

Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

Prayer: Father God, anoint me with power to be witnesses in the secular and the social world. Help me to leave indelible credentials in the book of remembrance. Amen.
