15 November 2024 – Love Letter – Part 5

2 Timothy 3:15-17 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Bible does not condemn but convicts and corrects us. It is a Love Letter that corrects and changes us to live righteously and victoriously. “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? (Jeremiah 23:29). God’s Word will burn our foul, futile and formidable thoughts of our heart and transform us beyond recognition. The words of Jesus transformed the blood-thirsty prosecutor, Saul, into a powerful preacher, Paul. “He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” (Galatians 1:23). That is the power of the Word of God.

God’s Word is like a hammer that breaks callous hearts and corroded minds. Jesus the resurrected saviour asked the murderer Saul, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ (Acts 26:19). The loving words of Jesus were like a hammer that broke the coldhearted unsympathetic arrogant Pharisee, and transformed him into a kind hearted, empathetic servant of the Most High God.

God’s Word is like the spark that will ignite holy fire. Speak the Word over cold hearted or close minded family members. The Word of God will enlighten their heart and bring correction. God’s Word is a powerful weapon; use it to break the gates of bronze and the bars of iron. His Word breaks and burns; corrects and changes us.

God’s Word corrects:

1.         Hot: God’s Word never grows cold. Rekindle, reignite and ricochet God’s Word into situations that are indomitable. Declaring God’s Word is like shooting bomb shells into the enemy’s camp. His word will burn down the strongholds of the enemy. Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire. And this people wood, and it will consume them (Jeremiah 5:14b).

2.         Hammer: God’s Word is like a hammer that breaks down the impassable walls of Jericho. His Word is a weapon and a sword in your mouth. Hammer the ill-spoken words, sorcery and sarcasm with the Word of God.

3.         Heart: The Word of God penetrates from the head to the heart as revelation and ignites holy fire.  But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. (Jeremiah 20:7a). God’s Word that penetrates into the crevices of our heart will transform us inside out.

The Word of God, the Bible, is the Holy fire that burns doubt and disbelief.

His Word is the hammer that breaks callous hearts and closed minds.

Never, never, never neglect it.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I submit myself to correction and obedience to your Word. Amen.
