Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Praying in the Spirit will open the window of the future to us. We will have a peek into the future if we pray in the spirit continually. The present disappointment will not faze us nor can it discourage us when we pray in the Spirit. We will be able to see our future through the Word and the promises of God. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future (Proverbs 31:25). Future is defined by God’s Word not determined by the current circumstances but we cannot enjoy futuristic faith unless we pray in the Spirit always, on all occasions, with all kinds of prayer and requests.
We will not be stuck with sudden startling surprises if we pray in the Spirit incessantly. Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets (Amos 3:7). The Sovereign Lord speaks in signs and symbols and unless we are in the mode of prayer we will not understand Him.Our spiritual eyes and heart will comprehend the hidden truth of God’s treasures as we pray in the spirit, however ritualistic worship will only blind the spiritual eyes and deafen the spiritual ears. “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand (Matthew 13:13). Praying in the Spirit will clothe us with courage as we will be able to look into the future with confidence.
Pray in the Spirit:
1. Forebodings: Fear and forebodings will flee when we pray in the Spirit. Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught (Proverbs 3:25-26).
2. Fervor: Praying in the Spirit will make our fervor for the Lord and the passion for the Gospel bubble in our heart. That means you must be ready at all times, even if it is an unexpected or inconvenient time for you (2 Timothy 4:2). Praying in the Spirit keeps our fervor on fire.
3. Futuristic: The perspective of the future will be creative, innovative and futuristic when we pray in the Spirit. The fear of the unknown will dissipate as the joy of the future will inundate our soul. Our vision will not be shortsighted to live for the perishable present, but will be bolstered with futuristic boldness.
Praying in the Spirit will open our spiritual eyes to the future as the Sovereign Lord does nothing without first informing His sons and daughters.
1 Timothy 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, I will clothe myself with strength and dignity by praying in the Spirit and in confidence about the future. Amen.
