24 November 2024 – Pray in the Spirit – Part 7

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Sound is transmitted through solids, liquids or gases. In fact, sound waves are able to travel faster and further through solids and liquids than gases. Similarly, the transmitters of our prayer waves from the terrestrial to the celestial are faith, truth and purity. Faithless prayers are useless prayers. Without faith it is impossible to please him (Hebrews 11:6a). Likewise, truth not only in our words but also in our intentions is absolutely essential for the prayer waves to resound in heaven. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). Repetitive ritualistic prayers fall from the mouth straight to the ground. Jesus spoke about the Pharisees who prayed three times a day; “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” (Matthew 15:8). Further, purity in heart removes all the blocks and barricades between us and heaven and draws us close to His bosom. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8). There can be no intimacy without purity.

In conclusion, we can safely say faith, truth and purity are sound waves that translate our simple and sincere prayers into the language of heaven and reverberate before the throne of God. Spirit filled prayers are truthful, faithful and confident.

Pray in the Spirit:

1.         Sound-waves: Sound waves are transmitted on the wings of sincerity. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words (Matthew 6:7). Vain insincere repetition is like talking into a vacuum that cannot transmit sound.

2.         Siren: Spirit filled prayers are amplified in heaven. God heard Jonah’s distress even from the depths of the sea. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry (Jonah 2:2b). Our cry in distress triggers the siren in heaven and mobilizes and deploys the angelic army.

3.         Secrets: Speaking in tongues is a tool to pray in the spirit. We speak the language of heaven that hell doesn’t understand. For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries (1 Corinthians 14:2). It is a telegraphic code that confuses the demons. The language that even our brain cannot understand is decoded in heaven. Secrets are transmitted and mysteries and deep revelations are relayed back as impressions in our heart. Hence the Apostle Paul said, thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you (1 Corinthians 14:18).

The sound-wave of spirit-filled prayers is faith, truth and purity. Desire the secret spiritual code to speak mysteries with the Lord.

Romans 8:26 For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express.

Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, help me to pray in sincerity and truth and teach me the heavenly language and the secret code of heaven. Amen.
