03 December 2024 – Hidden Pillars – Part 2

Hebrews 11:23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

Pillars provide the firm structure for a building. In earthquake prone zones, the cross-bracing system supports the intersections with braces and beams to transfer the seismic loads back to the ground.

Like the braces and beams that hold buildings together, hidden spiritual pillars in our lives protect us from crumbling and falling when we are spiritually and emotionally shaken. The hidden pillars of Moses were his parents. Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months (Exodus 2:1-2). Amram and Jochebed (Exodus 6:20), the parents of Moses, took a radical decision to go against the lethal verdict that had been pronounced against all the Hebrew boy babies. Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live. (Exodus 1:22). But Amram and Jochebed decided to hide their baby for three months. When they could no longer hide him, she took a basket made of bulrushes, waterproofed it with tar and pitch and she put the child in the basket and directed the basket to the Pharaoh’s daughter.

This was a bold and prayerful move to present the innocent child to the predators and plead mercy. The Lord God maneuvered the journey of Moses through the river Nile to the Pharaoh’s palace.  He grew under the shadow of the Pharaoh who hated the Hebrews. The silent pillars bolstered Moses to become the greatest prophet of the Old Testament.

Three lessons from hidden pillars:

1.         Basket: Build the basket and seal it with tar and pitch. We must make a basket that will not be infiltrated with the culture of our society. The basket must be woven with godly values against immorality, infidelity and inclusivity. It is the basket that will seal the mind against gender confusion, civil union and mass massacre of infants in the womb under the tag of “abortion”.

2.         Braces & Beams: The cross-braces and beams of a building keep it intact in times of earthquakes. Similarly, the silent pillars are spiritual parents who bolster the scriptural, moral and family values. Be surrounded by braces and bolstered by cross-beams of spiritually minded people.

3.         Bylaws: Though Moses grew in the palace of the Pharaoh, the zeal for the truth and justice was inculcated into him by his mother. Embed godly bylaws into your generation. Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).

Build a basket of godly values, support it with braces and beams and seal it with divine bylaws to influence your generation.

Hebrews 11:24 “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, make me a hidden pillar who builds a safe haven of godliness for my generation. Amen.
