15 December 2024 – Lifestyle of Jesus – Part 7

Acts 10:38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

The most incredible and notable aspect of the lifestyle of Jesus was the way He served the needy, sick and the oppressed. He woke up every morning doing good, healing and delivering those who were oppressed by the devil. Jesus did millions of miracles and healings while He was on earth that could not be recorded. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books (John 21:25). So the mighty works recorded in the Bible are only a precise summary of the lifestyle of Jesus.

The lifestyle of Jesus on earth for 3 ½ years has been transforming and reforming lives for the past 2,000 years. The Bible is the oldest and the most sold book in the world. 40 writers over a period of 1500 years have been scribes to the books of the Bible. Human hands wrote the Bible but the author is the Holy Spirit.  Guinness World Records estimates that 5 – 7 billion copies of the Bible have been sold making it the best-selling book of all times. The simple reason for making the Bible the best-selling book is because the pages of the scripture are invigorating and it is a ‘talking book’ as the Author of the book is still alive!

Jesus lived on earth, died, rose again, and left an indelible mark that is still touching and transforming lives. To live the lifestyle of Jesus we need the anointing, the gifts, and the power of the Holy Spirit and the presence of the Omnipresent God with us.

The Lifestyle of Jesus:

1.         Power: To receive power of the Holy Spirit is like plugging our mobile into the chargers. The longer we wait in the prayer closet, the more will be empowered. The last advice of Jesus to the apostles was to wait to receive power (Acts 1:8). Those who wait on the Lord will be clothed with supernatural strength (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting on Him before dawn, at dusk and during the hustle and bustle of the day will augment power to do what Jesus did.

2.         Presence: Jesus acknowledged the presence of the Father more than the presence of people. Hence, He was not intimidated by pressure or insinuated by the pejorative abuses. To carry the presence of God everywhere, we must acknowledge Him and talk to Him more than we talk to people.

3.         Purpose: Jesus knew His purpose and He followed the plan even to the cross. Know your purpose and live purposefully.

The lifestyle of Jesus was to do good, heal and deliver those oppressed by the devil. Our lifestyle should be the same.

John 12:27b But for this purpose I came to this hour.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, I want to follow your footsteps and live a purposeful life like you. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, power and your presence. Amen.
