1 Corinthians 1:25 “The foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man”.
As we mature in our walk with the Lord, He will take us through mysterious paths. It’s difficult to understand why we traverse through some dark valleys but in the end, what appears to be an unnecessary trial will prove to fit into the puzzle of God’s perfect plan. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).
While the envious brothers of Joseph threw him into the pit, he would have prayed, cried and pleaded with the Lord to save him and take him home safe to his daddy. When the brothers pulled him out of the pit, there would have been a ray of hope that they had changed their mind, but they sold him to the Ishmaelites. So when the Ishmaelites, who were Midianite traders, came by, Joseph’s brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to them for twenty pieces of silver. And the traders took him to Egypt (Genesis 37:28). God even used the treachery of the coldhearted brothers to move Joseph to his destiny. If not for the Ishmaelites, Joseph would have never entered Egypt and would not have saved the world during the famine.
God’s ways are Mysterious:
1. Mistake: The Ishmaelites were also the descendants of Abraham through his slave girl Hagar. God used the silly mistake of their great grandfather Abraham to save Joseph and direct him into his destiny. The messy mistake Abraham saved his great grandson, Joseph, mysteriously! God is not the author of the malice but He will even use our silly stupor to accomplish His purpose.
2. Mishap: There are no accidents in our life, only God ordained appointments. The envy of the sibling of Joseph was evil yet God turned the evil into good to save multitudes and His chosen race.
3. Mystery: The mystery of God is His wisdom. When we cannot understand His ways, we must learn to trust and rest in His arms. “When you cannot trace His hands, trust His heart”.
The Lord God will never make a mistake, so don’t misunderstand God’s mystery as a mistake.
Genesis 50:20 “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today”.
Prayer: Father God, help me to remain steadfast and not question you but trust you through this mysterious journey of life. Amen.
