Deuteronomy 23:5 Nevertheless the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.
The Lord God guided the half a million people through the wilderness to the Promised Land and performed incredible signs and wonders along the way. The miraculous manna and the sea’s splitting for God’s chosen people, struck the heathen witnesses with dread and awe of the Lord God of Israel. Moab was terrified because there were so many people. Indeed, Moab was filled with dread because of the Israelites (Numbers 22:3). The King of Moab was petrified at the number of people who were passing his territory and he hired a sorcerer, Balaam, to curse them. Three times Balaam went with Balak to curse Israel but He could not curse them, rather God made the wizard bless Israel instead of curse them as the Lord God Himself was a canopy of protection over Israel. The Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said, “Go back to Balak and give him this word” (Numbers 23:5&16). The Lord God took control of the tongue of the occultist and turned the curse into a blessing!
There will be people who will hate us for no reason. There will be others who will repay evil for the good that we have done to them. No matter how hard we try, there will be a group of people whom we will never befriend, as they are threatened by how the Lord God defends and protects us. They will come like a swarm of bees or a swallowing torrent, but “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a barrier” (Isaiah 59:19b). God will put blessings in the mouth of the sorcerers, mediums and witches, and overturn their curses and incantations into blessings. They will be tongue tied to bless and not curse.
God’s ways of blessing His children are Mysterious:
1. Connive: Do not be intimidated by the conniving envious people who slander and defame you. God will trap them in their own words. They dig a deep pit to trap others, then fall into it themselves (Psalm 7:15).
2. Congregate: Do not dread the wicked that congregate to disparage you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you (Isaiah 54:15).
3. Curse: Do not be terrified by the curses of the witches and warlocks. The Lord will take control of their tongue to bless us instead of curse us. The curses that are chanted at us will turn back and land on them. A curse without cause does not come to rest (Proverbs 26:2b).
God will even use a wicked warlock to bless His people. So don’t be threatened by them; His ways are mysterious.
Numbers 23:8 “How can I curse whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?”
Prayer: God of Power and Might, Thank you for being my shade and shadow against curses, incantation, and evil spells. Nothing by any means shall harm me. Amen.
