26 December 2024 – His Name – Part 4

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus is the author and finisher, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end; hence, He is our Everlasting Father. He was the Father of Abraham, but He is not the grandfather of Abraham’s son Isaac or the great-grandfather of Jacob. He is the Father of Abraham, the Father of Isaac, and the Father of Jacob. He does not grow old, nor does His Word become outdated.

Even the most ideal human father has limitations but our Heavenly Father is our Perfect Everlasting Father. In God’s original blueprint of humanity, the father of a home was the provider, protector and priest of the home. He gave Adam work before he gave him a wife. Those who come from dysfunctional families and who have witnessed their Dads as ‘flawed fathers’ struggle to understand the nature of our Everlasting Father. Our Heavenly Father created a perfect home for Adam and Eve. He gave them a simple mandate to bask under His grace. Adam and Eve disdained their perfect home and desecrated God’s perfect plan for humanity. Yet, the nature of our Everlasting Father has not changed. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). He is still perfect, He protects, and He provides.

His name is Everlasting Father:

1.         Name: Jesus is not like the celebrities of the world; when they cccdie their influence dies with them. Jesus said, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you (John 16:23). The power in the name of Jesus has exploded and is thriving even after 2000 years.

2.         Nature: Jesus lived a holy life with the same human limitation that we struggle with and gave us the power to inherit His divine nature. ..You may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires (2 Peter 1:4).

3.         Newness: Our Father in Heaven is everlasting and so is His Word. His promises are never outdated or obsolete. His Word, His mercy, and His provisions are new every morning.

He is our Perfect Everlasting Father.

Prayer: Everlasting Father, help me to see your perfection, providence, and protection as my ever present help. Amen.
