Joshua 3:15-16a Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing.
A good start in sprinting is very important to gain advantage over other competitors. It helps a runner to gain speed and propel the ‘drive phase’ before others. Similarly, a good start to a New Year is inevitable to our spiritual and emotional growth.
The change of leadership from Moses to Joshua was disturbing and distressing to the Israelites who left Egypt. The shoes of Moses were too big to fill for the next leader Joshua, as Moses was their Spiritual Father, Prophet and Pastor. Yet, Joshua led the next generation to inherit the Promised Land as he was led by the Lord. The fear of God in his heart and the commandments of the Lord in his mind and mouth were the key to his successful leadership.
The first mission of Joshua’s military journey was to cross the Jordan. Jordan was flooded yet, as the sole of the feet of the priest touched the water, Jordan split into two. The flash floods retreated and stood in attention like a military salute before a President. The waters of Jordan did not draw back in fear of the Priest but they withdrew and saluted the awesome presence of the Lord. The Priests were carrying the Ark of the Covenant which symbolically was the presence of the King of the Universe.
The Almighty God has kept an open door of success for us in 2025. “Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut” – (Revelation 3:8).
Get-set-Go:
1. Roll-back: The threatening flashfloods of unexpected loss or diagnosis will roll-back and salute us as we step into the New Year carrying the presence of the Lord.
2. Retreat: Our songs of praises will make the formidable diabolical forces to retreat as demons suffocate in an environment of worship.
3. Revere: Reverential fear of the Lord will surround us with divine power and protection.
Step into the New Year 2025 carrying God’s awesome presence, and the flashfloods and the formidable enemy will flee before you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I will carry your presence into the New Year and step boldly with songs of praise. Amen.
