Matthew 6:9-11 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven Hallowed be Your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
In Part-2 of the template we admit our struggles and seek God’s mercy. Unforgiveness shuts the door of heaven on us. We can ask, seek and knock and there will be no answer if we hoard unforgiveness in our heart. Especially, forgiving those who do not deserve our forgiveness is extremely difficult. Extending forgiveness to the offender does not “undo” the damage they have done. The loss, pain and betrayal are real. It hurts, but the wound will become infectious if we keep revisiting the past.
Forgiveness is one of the most difficult spiritual commands which must be exercised almost every day, if not several times a day. The most important reason to forgive and never bring up the past forgiven mistakes to our spouse/sibling/friend/associate is because unforgiveness towards others will automatically reinstate our past iniquities and curses. (Matthew 18:21-35). Unforgiveness will uncover our past forgiven sins. This is a spiritual law. Deal with the current issue and don’t dig into the past blunders of others. Storing, recollecting and reminiscing the offenses, insults and abuses occupy our mental real estate. Instead declutter unpleasant memories and refurbish your mind with healthy happy memories.
Template Part-2:
1. Admit: When angry/bitter thoughts about an offense that has been forgiven a gazillion times arises, admit that there is another layer that needs to be destroyed. Forgiveness is like peeling an onion; undo layer by layer. Go through the forgiveness exercise over and over until the offense is forgotten.
2. Apply: The only way to get rid of an ugly recollection is by applying the blood of Jesus over the hurting and painful memory and allowing the divine detergent to blot it out of your mind. The blood of Jesus is the only cleaning agent of our soul/mind.
3. Ascend: Forgiveness helps us to ascend into the Holy Mountain. There will be no spiritual growth without forgiveness.
The blood is the only divine detergent that can wipe out ugly and unpleasant memories.
Prayer: Jesus my Saviour, may the hyssop dipped in your precious blood blot out bad memories that brings back past offense. Amen.
