Joshua 3:13 “And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.”
The “Ark of the Lord” or the “Ark of the Covenant” was the symbolic representation of the “Presence of the Lord God Almighty”. It was an emblematic portrayal of the everlasting covenant of the Lord of the Universe to protect and guide His children who walk in obedience to His commandments. The Ark of the Lord instilled a reverential fear in the camp of the Israelites. The priest carried the ark on the shoulders according to the Mosaic Law and when the ark moved, the people followed. “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it.” (Joshua 3:3). As New Testament believers, you and I are the priests of the Almighty God who are qualified to carry the Ark of the Covenant.
“Hosting the presence of the Lord will endow us with “supernatural power”.
The seas fled and Jordan turned back and curled up like a scroll (Psalm 114:3). The earth trembled as the priests carried the Ark, “God’s awesome presence”. Jordan was flooded during harvest and the flash floods would have washed away the priests and the people yet, at the sight of the Ark of the Lord, the waters receded and the land dried up like concrete for the people to cross. Revering and hosting the presence of the Lord will unleash God’s immeasurable power in our lives.
Three keys to host the presence of God:
1. Purity: The viscosity of His presence will wear out if there are hidden sins in our lives (Joshua 3:5). Making excuses for our weakness and repeated failure will stain purity. Purity augments power.
2. Priority: Prioritizing to live according to the precepts of the Lord invites the presence of God.
3. Peace: The peace of God in our heart is the assurance of His presence. Don’t move until there is peace over any issue. Peace assures God’s presence.
“Hosting the presence of the Lord endows us with supernatural power”.
Prayer: King Jesus, coach me to host your presence and to be clothed with supernatural power every day. Amen.
