1 Kings 16:34 While Ahab was king, a man from Bethel named Hiel rebuilt the town of Jericho. But while Hiel was laying the foundation for the town wall, his eldest son Abiram died. And while he was finishing the gates, his youngest son Segub died.
Choices, decisions and actions rattle dormant curses and initiate demonic activity. Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest (Proverbs 26:2). The curses, incantation and spells from the demonic ghetto cannot touch under the protection of the blood of Jesus. The blood is the fence of fire around those who fear the Lord. However, poor choices and indecisive decisions can rattle the curses that were dormant for years or even many generations.
Jericho was the first milestone that the Joshua’s generation conquered and crossed. The city was filled with violence, idolatry and promiscuity. Hence over the crumbles of Jericho Joshua pronounced a curse, “Cursed before the Lord be the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho. “At the cost of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and at the cost of his youngest son shall he set up its gates.” (Joshua 6:26). After 530 years during the reign of the wicked King Ahab, Hiel a man from Bethel rebuilt the city of Jericho and reactivated the curse.
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20). Cursed is the one who justifies evil and condemns the just. Godlessness and blaspheme invoke inactive curses. Those who connive and craftily hurt others reactivate or initiate curses on their bloodline. Worldly influence, affluence or opulence cannot protect them from divine judgement.
Spiritual Activation:
1. Destruction: Being directly or indirectly instrumental in the destruction of another reactivates curses. Woe to you, O destroyer (Isaiah 33:1a).
2. Dishonest: Being dishonest to the responsibilities, power and positions will reactive or ignite curses. Woe to the worthless shepherd, Who leaves the flock! (Zephaniah 11:17a).
3. Deception: Being deceptive, cunning and crafty activates curses. Woe to the bloody city, completely full of lies and pillage (Nahum 3:1).
While grace is divine activation of God’s favour, judgement is the demonic activation of curses. Godlessness will inflame dormant curses and ignite divine judgement.
Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, help me to walk in your light to make godly choices, decisions and actions. Amen.
