02 March 2025 – Intentionality – Part 5

Isaiah 61:10 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Intentionality is a deliberate and purposive mental state of actions, thoughts, desires, beliefs and hopes that are directed towards achieving a particular objective or goal.

Guilt and shame are two very painful emotions that can have adverse consequences on a person’s self-esteem. While guilt kills the joy, steals peace and darkens the mind, shame is like a shroud that makes a person socially awkward and self-conscious. Both guilt and shame have negative voices that condemn, humiliate and disparage our self-worth.

Jesus purchased two precious pieces of clothing by paying the purchase price with His precious blood – the garment of salvation and the robe of His righteousness (Revelation 19:13). These garments don’t jump on us when we suffer from shame or guilt. We must intentionally and deliberately put them on. When demons remind us of our stupor, silly mistakes and lousy decisions, put on the garment of salvation and the robe of His righteousness. The garment is the inner long flowing clothing but the robe is the outer decorative or ceremonial dress. The Lord has not only covered our sin and shame, but He has also adorned us with glory and honour. When the voice of condemnations gets louder, raise a shout of praise for we are clothed with salvation and righteousness.

The garment of salvation and the robe of His righteousness:

1.         Rich: We have a rich garment of salvation that sets us apart as special and precious to the Lord. The garment of salvation gives us the confidence that our past is forgiven and our future is secured.

2.         Robe: The robe of His Righteousness changes our status from shameful sinner to redeemed son/daughter. The robe empowers us to overrule the demeaning fiendish voices.

3.         Royalty: We are decked like bride and bridegrooms with royal garments. The crown of royalty gives us the authority to subdue the demonic accusations.

Intentionally put on the spiritual garment of salvation and the robe of righteousness every day.

Prayer: Jesus my King, thank you for the royal apparel that you have purchased for me with your precious blood. Amen.
