07 May 2025 – The Unseen Enemy – Part 1

Deuteronomy 15:18 “Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you came out of Egypt, how he attacked you on the way when you were faint and weary, and cut off your tail, those who were lagging behind you, and he did not fear God.”

The Amalekites were a formidable ancient nomadic race that was known to attack, loot and murder without being provoked. Amalekites were the first to attack Israel during their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land.  Amalek was the grandson of Esau. Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. (Genesis 36:12). Hatred that Esau hoarded against his brother Jacob, (who was later renamed as Israel), was in the blood of Amalek, the descendant of Esau. It is scientifically proven that genetics play a role in shaping our personality traits and temperament. Our character will be influenced by our DNA unless we are born again into the family of Christ.

Amalekites ruthlessly attacked the elderly and the weak that were lagging behind, unprovoked. Similarly, the spirit of Amalek will sow animosity uninvited and unprovoked.

The divine warning for us as we journey through life is to be aware of the unseen brutal Amalekite demonic enemy that is lurking around us. The moment we lag behind in prayer we are prone to attacks by the dreadful demonic gangsters. An ordinary conversation will turn into a tornado, and pleasantness into a perilous typhoon when attacked by the unseen enemy.

The Unseen Enemy:

1.         Unforgiveness: Time and again the unseen enemy will surge unforgiveness by reminding us about the mistakes of our spouse or siblings. We must refuse to react but rebuff the provocation. Love never keeps a record of wrongs.

2.         Unforgotten: The forgotten incident will flare up from nowhere when we are upset. The demonic spirit of Amalek reminds us about the past mistakes and will reopen wounds. Choose to forget and refrain from repeating past mistakes.

3.         Unworthy: The spirit of Amalek will jab us with shame and self-pity. He takes pleasure in inflicting humiliation on us with humiliation. Rebuke the voice of condemnation that hurls insecurity and unworthiness.

Beware of the unseen enemy who stirs hatred, anger and animosity, unprovoked.

Prayer: Father God, help me never to lag behind but to remain under your divine protection to defeat the dreadful demonic spirit of Amalek. Amen.
