2 Samuel 1:8-10 “He(David) asked me, ‘Who are you?’ “‘An Amalekite,’ I answered. “Then he said to me, ‘Stand here by me and kill me! I’m in the throes of death, but I’m still alive.’“So I stood beside him and killed him, because I knew that after he had fallen he could not survive.”
The spirit of Amalekite is a bloodthirsty spirit that waits to drink the blood of the Lord’s anointed. King Saul was badly wounded in the battle with the Philistines and he was bleeding with excruciating pain. Saul called an Amalekite and consented to euthanasia. He agreed for a sword to be thrust through him and died in the hands of an uncircumcised barbarian.
The Lord had commanded Saul to annihilate the Amalekites as they were not only a brutal race but also perverted and would infiltrate the nation with violence and vice. However, Saul only partially obeyed the Lord. The Lord rejected Saul because he did not annihilate the Amalekites. But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed (1 Samuel 15:9). The ruthless enemy that Saul spared was the adversary that ultimately took his life.
The spirit of Amalekite in modern times creeps-in as infidelity, materialism and compromise. If we partially entertain these vices and disobey the Lord, it will ultimately destroy our purity, posterity and prosperity. “Partial obedience is still disobedience”.
The Unseen Enemy:
1. Drink: The spirit of Amalekite is a blood sucking spirit. It will cause slow bleeding until it suffocates our spiritual life. It could be a secret sin or a weakness that is ignored that will cause spiritual death.
2. Despise: The spirit of Amalekite is a distracting spirit that will make us despise the eternal and be amused by the temporal material and worldly things.
3. Destroy: The core objective of the spirit of Amalekite is to destroy a godly generation. The demonic gangsters are after destroying our legacy by corrupting God’s chosen generation with compromise and infidelity.
The spirit of Amalekite comes to destroy the Lord’s anointed.
Prayer: Father God, give me the discernment to identify the spirit of Amalek and destroy the fiendish influence before it attacks and damages me. Amen.
