Hebrews 10:19-20b: “Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the veil, that is, his body.”
A master key is a key designed to open multiple locks within a system, allowing access to different areas or rooms. “The Cross” is the master key to salvation, redemption and restoration.
The cross of Jesus is not a symbol of curse but the sign of our confidence that we are children of the Most High God. During the reign of Roman, death on the cross was the most gruesome and ghastly death yet, Jesus chose to go through the cross to take the curse and the consequences of our iniquities, upon Himself. It is through His shed blood, broken body and bruises that we are saved from the curse of condemnation.
Every scar on His body was a retribution for our sins. Under the ‘The Law of Jealousy’ in the Mosaic covenant, the accused was put through the test of “cursed water”. The priest would take holy water mixed with the dust from the sanctuary, curse the muddy water and give it to the woman to drink. Here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—“may the Lord cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell” (Numbers 5:21). The belly of the culpable would swell and burst!
Jesus took our known, unknown and rebellious sin upon Himself on the cross. His side was pierced so as to save our stomachs from swelling with shame. “One of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out” (John 19:34). Jesus drank the cursed water of condemnation to set the accused free. The cross is the master key that opens the door to the family home of Christ Jesus.
Golden Spiritual Keys:
1. Blood: Without the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross there is no redemption for us.
2. Body: The broken body of Christ opened the door to eternal life.
3. Bruise: The bruise on His body is the reminder of our redemption.
The cross is the master key into the Family of Christ.
Prayer: Dearest Jesus, Oh how precious is the cross of Calvary that redeemed me. Amen.
