Deuteronomy 7:15a The LORD will keep you free from every disease.
“A divine covenant is an agreement or a contract that the Lord makes with His people.”
Over the past 80+ years, there have been significant advancements in the medical field, leading to increased life expectancy and reduced mortality. In addition, technological advancement like AI is revolutionizing treatments however; there is still no permanent cure for many medical conditions.
In the days of tabernacle worship, when anyone was struck with a disease, they went to the priests, and not the physician for consultation. The priest would examine them and pronounce the prognosis and diagnosis (Leviticus 13).
The Lord God made a Covenant of Healing with His people. “If you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). Under this covenant we have the right to sabotage any sickness even before it attacks us. This does not mean that we must not go to a physician. It only reiterates that the ultimate healing only comes from the Lord. Healing is our covenantal right. Calling upon the Lord for healing is not a just a ‘prayer’ but a ‘petition’/(legal appeal) under the legal constitution of the Bible in Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24, Jesus “Himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed”.
Covenant of Healing:
1. Wounds: The curse of debilitating sickness was broken on the cross of Calvary when the body of Jesus was broken and wounded. Hence the wounds of Jesus are a divine remedy.
2. Worship: “Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you” (Exodus 23:25). Worship is a divine antidote to healing.
3. Word: God’s Word is the medication that can cure any illness. For they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body (Proverbs 4:22).
The ‘Covenant of Healing’ is activated when we reach out to the wounds of Jesus. Worship and the Word of God are our divine medication.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, let the truth of divine healing grip my heart and capture my mind. Amen.
