Deuteronomy 7:13 He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land—your grain, new wine and olive oil—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.

“The Covenant of Fertility and Increase” activates in the life of the obedient. We do not obey to flourish and increase but rather, ‘divine favour of increase’ follows those who obey the Lord diligently. Obedience is an expression of love. “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). Obedience out of compulsion is only forced compliance. Such dutiful observance is not obedience. Obedience is always from the place of love.
Fertility of the womb and the prosperity of the work of our hands is the covenantal blessing of the obedient. This does not mean that those who are in lack are disobedient. Ignorance keeps many in a “poverty mentality”. Authentic and audacious love for God activates the covenant of increase and fertility.
Covenant of Increase:
1. Womb: The blessing of increase and fertility does not restrict us to biological growth but an increase in spiritual family, anointing and gifts.
2. Work: The covenant of increase activates in the lives of the obedient and blesses the work of their hands. The covenant of increase is the protection for God’s beloved during times of recession, depression of famine. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit (Jeremiah 17:8). They will be fertile, flourish and be fruitful at all times.
3. Wealth: Wealth is not defined by the ‘asset value’ or our ‘networth’ but by the ‘surplus’ that we have to bless others. God will bless us with more than what we need to become a blessing to others.
The ‘Covenant of Fertility and Increase’ is the secret to flourish, be fertile and fruitful even during tough times.
