01 June 2025 – Divine Covenant – Part 5

Isaiah 54:10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

“A divine covenant is an agreement or a contract between the Lord and His people.”

Dr. Caroline Leaf, a Christian cognitive neuroscientist, after years of research says that the human brain is not designed to cope with chronic stress and excessive anxiety. She says that constant negative thoughts and emotional turmoil can disrupt the effective function of the brain and create detrimental patterns in the brain neurons. Constant worry can lead to various mental health issues including depression, anxiety and other neurodegenerative diseases.

The Lord God has made a “Covenant of Peace” with us to set us free from stress and anxiety.

Jesus reiterated the Covenant of Peace by leaving His peace with us. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). The peace that the world offers can change with changing circumstances but the peace that Jesus gives us remains resolute. The Covenant of Peace is not annulled when we choose to have a panic attack. We can run back into His presence and enter into His rest by surrendering our problems and perils to Him. Activate the Covenant of Peace in the turbulence and trial in total surrender, stillness and silence.

Covenant of Peace:

1.         Surrender: Run into His presence; surrender fear in-exchange for faith and rest.  Stop fighting the battles with your own wisdom. Surrender is not a place of defeat but a posture of complete trust that God will fight and win our battles.

2.         Stillness: Stillness is not inaction. It is the tranquility in the storm. Restless heart will be attacked by imaginary fear and tumultuous erratic emotions. So, discipline your soul to be quiet and still.

3.         Silence: Covenant of Peace can be broken by our own fearful and faithless words. Speak nothing other than the promises of God in difficult times.

The Covenant of Peace will set us free from stress, worry and anxiety.

Prayer: Jesus, the Prince of Peace, help me to surrender, trust, rest and enjoy divine peace at all times. Amen.
