1 Samuel 17:26b Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
“God sees our heart and hears our conversations”
Living with the awareness that the Sovereign Lord is watching and listening to us 24/7 will change the way we think and talk. Many are under the illusion that God hears and notices us only when we pray. The eyes of the Lord are fixated on us. He hears our silly thoughts, unnecessary remarks and judgemental discourse as much as He gives attention to our earnest prayers.
Our casual conversation has the same effect as our ardent prayers. The conviction of our heart spills out as conversations. If we pray for a miracle and speak disbelief and dissolution, we have sabotaged the miracle with our own words.
God heard the faith-filled conversation of David. The Philistine was defying the armies of Israel, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other” (vs 10), but David was infuriated that he defied the armies of the Living God as David knew his scriptures very well. Deuteronomy 20:1-4 says that God will fight the battles of Israel and will give them victory. So, Goliath was not slandering the warriors of Israel but was smearing the hosts of the angelic combatants. God heard the conversation that David had with the soldiers who were trembling at the defiance of the giant. David challenged the humongous monster as his faith in the promises of God was much bigger than the 9 feet tall giant.
Convictions and conversations determine the conclusion:
1. Conviction: ‘Conviction’ is a legal terminology. Our conviction is our confidence and faith. Our conviction based on the Word of God is the verdict that we pronounce on the hellish plots. David’s conviction bolstered victory.
2. Confession: Faith based confession is a powerful missile. David killed Goliath with his faith-filled confession even before he flung the stone from his slingshot.
3. Conversation: Our conversations play on amplifiers in heaven as well as in hell. Positive conversations with faith empower angels and threaten the demons whereas fearful conversations open doors to the demonic burglars.
The faith in our heart must be bigger than the fiendish felony.
Prayer: Father God, help me to be aware that everything I think and say are noted by heaven and hell. Amen.
