Ezekiel 22:30 I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.
“One intercessor is enough.”
In many countries a citizen-initiated referendum needs at least 10% of the voter’s signature to change a law. Citizen-initiated referendum in many democratic countries allows the public to have a direct voice on the law of the land. Any individual can initiate a referendum to make changes to the legislation that they think are detrimental to the culture or the peaceable lifestyle of the citizens. However, the percentage of voters in support of the referendum will decide the voice and value of the petition.
This is not so in the Kingdom of God. Voice of ONE sincere intercessor goes up to heaven like a thick cloud of incense and invokes divine action and intervention on earth. Ezekiel echoes the groaning of the Lord God in the above verse where the Lord was looking for ONE man to stand in the gap on behalf of his people, his country and the lost, yet He found no one. “One voice counts”. One voice is heard and the voice of ONE has value in heaven.
It is important to congregate to pray for the nations and the notorious but the prayer of ONE sincere intercessor has the same effect, worth and value of thousands, in heaven.
The Power of One:
1. Voice: Our voice matters. Prayer of a faithful soul changed the history and destiny of kings and nations. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children (Genesis 20:17). Our voice resounds in heaven.
2. Volume: Our whispers in our prayer closet are amplified on loud speakers in heaven. Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this people (Exodus 32:30). Sincere soft voices in our prayer closets reverberate as bold sincere petitions in heaven.
3. Value: Our voice might not have any value on earth but the prayer of the righteous is powerful and valuable in heaven.
“ONE sincere voice thunders in heaven like the prayer of the multitude”.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the confidence that you give me that you hear me when I pray. Save my people and my nation. Amen.
