31 July 2025 – Little Foxes – Part 2

Song of Solomon 2:15 Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.

The clever tactics of foxes to catch their prey by pouncing with precision make them crafty and cunning animals. Foxes are an excellent analogy to demons as the ‘deceptive attacking strategies’ of the diabolical gangsters are very similar to the foxes. Demons lurk, watch and attack with precision when we are most vulnerable spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Holding grudges is an open gate for the little foxes to sneak into the vineyard of our life. Grudge is a wound of resentment that is infected and inflamed. If the weeping wound is left unattended it could poison the heart and the whole body. An insult or abuse of the past that has not been forgiven turns into grudge and revenge. Grudge can change the character of a person. Holding grudges blocks blessing. Disputes are like the bars of a castle (Proverbs 18:19b). Grudges not only embitter and break the heart but are barriers to our progress.

Absalom had unresolved family issues and held a grudge against his step brother who abused his sister, and his father, King David, who ignored it. Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad; he hated Amnon (2 Samuel 13:22). The grudge in Absalom festered bitterness and finally blew up into a volcano. He not only killed his brother Ammon but also went after his father. Absalom was a handsome young man who was strapped with the suicide bomb of grudge that ultimately destroyed him.

Heart that holds grudges opens the door to the demonic foxes that spoil the vine.

Catch the ‘little foxes’ of grudge:

1.             Block: Grudges block blessings. Absalom was the next in line to become the king and would have inherited the kingdom after his father. But the unresolved grudge turned him into a violent and blood-thirsty man.

2.              Barrier: Grudges are barriers to progress. They will break through the gate and go out (Micah 2:13). Our part to walk into blessings is to break the gate of grudges, animosity and bitterness.

3.             Break: Break the neck of the little foxes of grudges and protect the vineyard of your life.

Destroy ‘little foxes’ of grudges.

Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, give me the strength to let go of grudges that block my blessings. Amen.
