Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.
Indiscipline will spoil the produce, productivity and progress. Discipline is crucial to achieve goals and build character. A man and mind without disciple is described as a city whose walls are broken and have no protection. Anyone can enter, plunder and ruin the person who has no walls or boundaries. Discipline builds walls around the thinking patterns and habits not only to defend, but also protect the mind from temptation, perversion and insinuation. Indiscipline is a little fox that spoils the mind and the man.
While discipline promotes self-control and develops inner strength, indiscipline ruins godly character. We build character by repetition. Consistency cultivates productive virtues. A prayer routine that is not missed day after day, throughout the year, disciplines the mind and the body and rejuvenates the spirit. Growth and progress happens one step at a time. Prayer and meditation, fasting, time management, exercise, reading, journaling, decluttering the mind, and positivity are disciplines that are built over a long period of time by consistency and persistence.
Joshua did not evolve to be a great leader in one day. He was consistent in his walk with the Lord that the Lord God could trust him with establishing a nation in their promised land. While Moses was conversing with the Lord, Joshua, his young assistant, remained in God’s presence (Exodus 32:17). Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent (Exodus 33:11). A consistent walk with God built Joshua’s faith, tenacity and trust to face the giants and inherit the Promised Land.
Catch the little foxes of indiscipline:
1. Produce: The little fox of indiscipline will chew on our produce – the fruit. Self-control and discipline holds all other fascist of the fruit of the spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness together. Indiscipline spoils the fruit of the spirit.
2. Productivity: The fruit of discipline is the spirit of excellence. The prayer discipline of Daniel was the secret to his excellence and productivity.
3. Progress: An indisciplined person cannot expect progress or prosperity. Indiscipline breaks the wall of protection and deters progress.
Destroy the little foxes of indiscipline.
Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, Help me to build the walls of my mind with consistency, tenacity and sound disciple. Amen.
