2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
“A good fight is a winning fight.”
The success of team sports will depend on teamwork, coordination, and cognitive processing to achieve success. Normally a team will be part of a club that will fund, support and train them.
The Christian walk is team work. We don’t fight our battles alone. We have the power of the Holy Spirit, the assistance of the holy angels and fellow believers who stand with us in prayer and fasting to fight the good fight.
The battle with the Amalekites at Rephidim is the perfect analogy of how to win our battles in the spiritual, before the victory manifests in the natural. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning (Exodus 17:11). As the hands of Moses reached out for heavenly help, there was earthly victory. As Moses prayed, the angelic army barraged the battle and wielded their swords along with Joshua’s fighting men. The intercession of Moses on the prayer mountain brought about the victory in the valley.
Reaching out for earthly help in times of trouble is foolishness. Never put your confidence in man. Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing (Proverbs 11:7). The pomp, power and prominence of man will vanish like a vapour. The fight will end as a good fight as long as our hands are stretched heavenward.
Good Fight:
1. Energy: In a spiritual battle, there could be times when our “prayer energy” and motivation runs low. When we are spiritually fatigued, we must reach out to ‘prayer warriors’ to join us with their “protective-shields” and “prayer-swords”.
2. Exit: We must defeat the demonic hoard in the celestial to win the battle in the terrestrial. The demons will exit once the angels enter the fighting ring.
3. Enemy: The real fight happens in the spiritual realm, not in the physical realm. We do not fight with flesh and blood. Our enemy is not the envious in-law, colleague or neighbour. Our only enemy is the devil and his demons.
Call upon the angelic-partners and prayer-warriors to fight the good fight.
Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me the truth and techniques of the good fight. Amen.
