Psalm 120:1 ‘I call on the LORD in my distress, and He answers me.’
“Jesus HELP! —the shortest, yet one of the most powerful prayers we can pray.”
The SOS line in distress is “Jesus Help”. SOS is an international code signal of extreme distress, used especially by ships at sea. When you are stuck, stranded or stressed, make the SOS prayer-call, “Jesus Help”. Turn your attention heavenward when you are distressed.
The oppressed Hebrew slaves cried and groaned in their anguish and the Lord heard them from heaven. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob (Exodus 2:24). God will hear our groaning but grumbling will shut the door to heaven. The Hebrew slave slogged 24/7. They did not have a day off to rest or to worship. So, probably they pleaded for deliverance as they were scorched in the desert, sun making bricks and building the ‘Supply Cities’ of Pithom and Rameses in Egypt. Our God is a covenant keeping God. He is a God of grace and justice. While the groaning slaves plodded day-in and day-out, God prepared Moses in the backside of the desert to deliver them (Exodus 3:1).
The miracle we witness is only the frontend of the prayer but the actual making and working of the miracle happens in the backend. Computers can perform calculations at superhuman speed but it is the backend that provides the information which is displayed in the frontend. Our crying, groaning, fasting and seeking the Lord in prayer does not go in vain. They are the backend preparation for the frontend manifestation of the miracle.
Help:
1. Stuck: If we are stuck in oppression like the Hebrew slaves, “Jesus Help” is the powerful cry that will set us free.
2. Stranded: If we are stranded and blinded without direction, “Jesus Help” will show us the way out of the dark valley.
3. Stressed: If we are in chronic stress about our future, family or finances, “Jesus Help” will bring rest to our tumultuous soul.
God has not abandoned us in oppression, depression or suppression. He is transforming our soul in the backend to manifest the miracle in the frontend.
Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, I submit to be obedient and faithful to be transformed and renewed in the backend until I witness the miracle in the frontend. Amen.
