1 Samuel 16:7b “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
An x-ray produces flat 2D black and white images whereas scans can produce detailed 3D cross-sectional images of the soft tissues, organs, internal bleeding and tumors in the body. X-rays can reveal basic issues like bones and fractures while scans slice into the brain, heart and the abdomen.
The eyes of the Lord are like a scanning machine. They can see the details of the thoughts running in the mind and can delineate the intentions meticulously and accurately. Human eyes can only see what we do but God’s eyes can see why we do it. No intention is hidden from the eyes of the Lord. “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” (Jeremiah 17:10).
Prophet Samuel, the last judge of Israel, was an integrous, faithful and obedient prophet who was a “Seer”. God had blessed him with scanning eyes that could see through into the hearts of the people. However even he stumbled when he saw the sons of Jesse who were brawly and manly and was willing to open his anointing oil to anoint them as the king of Israel. The Lord stopped him, saying, ‘God’s eyes do not see or judge as man does’.
God’s eyes scan through the heart.
Spiritual Health-Checks:
1. Sees: God wants us to look at people, problems and predators the way He does. If we see the peril through the eyes of God it will not intimidate us. If we see the people through God’s eyes we will not be offended and when we see the predators through ‘God’s loving eyes’ there will be no hate in us.
2. Scans: Things that are obvious can be discerned by a human mind like a fracture that is revealed by an x-ray machine, but the motives of the heart are captured by the scanning eyes of the Lord.
3. Searches: It is important to search our heart and test the motives about everything we do.
Scan and search the motives of your heart.
Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, when Your eyes scan throughout the earth seeking hearts that trust in You, may Yours rest upon me. Amen.
