10 October 2025 – Le Rêve – Part 3

Psalm 105:19 Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character.

“Le Rêve” means ‘The Dream’ in French. Le Rêve was an expensive oil painting on canvas by Pablo Picasso in 1932.

Oil painting takes days and even weeks to dry. In the layering or glazing method, each layer must thoroughly dry before the next coating. Hence, it can even take up to 6 months to finish one painting. The Lord God also uses glaze painting methodology on the canvas of our life. After every layer He allows the paint to dry before He moves to the next detail. The heavy colours such as Ivory black, crimson and Cobalt green take longer on the canvas to dry. Similarly, the testing seasons could feel long and unending but this is the season that prepares us for the promotion. “The longer the wait, the weightier the blessing”.

The boring and dull colours of pit and prison lasted for 13 years in Joseph’s life. It took over a decade for David to become the king after he was anointed by Prophet Samuel. The dark period of training in the wilderness lasted for 40 years for Moses before he discovered his calling as the pastor and the prophet of Israel. During the dim dark drying season God was working in the lives of these saints to shape their character to fulfill their purpose.

When we feel stuck and discouraged during the dull seasons of life, be rest assured that you are in the “Drying Season”. God is in the process of painting the base colours to add features and beauty to the canvas of your life.

Le Rêve:

1.         Mix: The colours will unintentionally mix if we continue oil painting on a canvas that is not fully dry. Let God define the different features of our life. Wait patiently for the Lord. He is never too late.

2.         Mess: King Saul had no ‘waiting’ or ‘drying season’ before he was anointed as king. The people demanded for a king and rushed to crown him as king. Saul was a failure and his canvas was messy.

3.         Meditate: In the drying season meditate on God’s promises. Ruminating on God’s Word accelerates the drying season.

God will not rush through the Le Rêve.

Prayer: Father, teach me to be patient in the drying season that prepares me for the next promotion. Amen.
