Acts 16:7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.
In God’s economy “clocks, calendar and calculators” start and stop at God’s command. God’s wall clock ticks at God’s pace not with the world’s race. It is important to understand that God lives outside the laws of space, time and matter. Walking closely hand in hand with the Lord will help us to understand God’s clock, God’s calendar and God’s calculator.
In Paul’s missionary journey, there was a dark phase where he struggled to align with God’s clock and calendar. Paul wanted him to go to Asia Minor which was thickly populated and steeped in worldliness and occultism. But Paul was moving outside God’s calendar so he was stopped by the Holy Spirit from entering the province of Asia Minor/(Turkey) (Acts 16:6-8). Instead, the Holy Spirit guided him toward Macedonia/(Greece) and He opened the door for the gospel to spread into Europe through northern Greece and southwestern Bulgaria. It was much later that He directed him to go to Asia Minor.
We might be stopped to execute a plan that sounds bold and robust to us. We might have fasted, prayed and planned yet, doors would be tightly closed if we are outside God’s clock. Some missions need long term planning in God’s calendar. So, don’t rush it. Don’t be disappointed if you are unable to execute your plan at your time. God’s clock clicks only at God’s command, not at ours. “In the waiting is the making”.
Clock, Calendar & Calculators:
1. Close: What appears to be our best option most probably isn’t God’s choice. So, when God closes a door temporarily or permanently, move on. There is an open door waiting for you.
2. Complain: Never complain about the time, season or need. God’s clock has never missed a beat since time began.
3. Command: The natural world is subject to the spiritual realm and the supernatural realm revolves around God’s command. What He opens no man can shut and what He shuts no man can open.
“In the waiting is the making”.
Waiting for God’s clock, calendar and calculator prepares us for the next assignment and mission.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, help me to understand your time, season and pace and never to rush you or slow you down. Amen.
