Ecclesiastes 3:10 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
In God’s economy “clocks, calendar and calculators” start and stop at God’s command.
Ten out of ten times we understand God’s clock, calendar and calculator, retrospectively. Yet He makes everything, not something but everything beautiful at the right time. Peacocks are one of the most attractive and beautiful birds but when they are born they are in shades of brown, tan, or gray, with a light belly. The peachicks are not born with the colourful elaborate tail feathers; they look like an ordinary bird until they start growing into nature’s extravaganza! The peacock matures and can take several years to grow the attractive tail feathers. Similarly, God has set a time and season for us to grow feathers and fly.
While the Apostle Paul was training to become a learned Pharisee under the guidance of his teacher Gamaliel, he was just an immature peachick. God gave him pretty feathers not to persecute His people but to become a powerful preacher for the kingdom. The salvation of the Apostle Paul was tarried by heaven until the great persecution broke out in the early church and until the believers were scattered to all the continents carrying the goodnews of the Gospel. Peter went to Rome, John to Asia Minor, Thomas to India, and Andrew into the regions of the Black Sea.
Clocks, Calendar & Calculators:
- Clock: God’s clock was ticking as Paul mounted the horse to go to Damascus to persecute the church. Every day we are one step closer to the miracle that we are waiting for. Follow God’s clock not yours.
- Calendar: As we continue to mature and grow in Him, at God’s appointed time and date, in God’s calendar, we will grow the pretty colourful tail and feathers of promotion.
- Calculator: God’s provision has already met all our needs, even before we were taken by surprise. God knew about your need before you did. So, just rest and trust in His supply.
“He makes all things beautiful in His time, His appointed day and way.”
Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, teach me to trust your clock, calendar and calculator even when I don’t understand as they never miss a beat! Amen.
