22 October 2025 – Worship – Part 1

2 Samuel 6:14-15 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

“Praise, Worship and Thanksgiving are the highest expressions of prayer”.

Bible Scholars and theologians have classified prayers into nine broad categories but the highest form of prayer is “praise and worship”. It is not only the highest form of prayer but also the first and foremost prayer station that opens the gates of the tabernacle for us to enter into His Holy Presence. Praise and worship has two parts, firstly humbling our self and secondly exalting the God of heaven. When we praise God we exalt Him and when we worship Him we express our adoration to Him.

David can be called “the veteran worship leader” among the saints and heroes of the Bible. His singing and his strumming was like a supersonic hotline to heaven. David was singled out by the Lord for the way he connected his heart to the invisible God of heaven.

David not only had a good start but also had a glorious ending. His style of worship did not change with the change of location from the sheep pen to the palace. When the Ark of the Covenant was brought into the city of David, he was dressed in plain linen clothing and danced with all his might. David removed the extravagant royal robes of purple and scarlet, the sash, the belt, the head, neck and hand jewelry, his leather ornamented footwear, his sword, shield and his royal crown and dressed like a peasant and a priest. The King of Israel was completely oblivious to the crowd around him when he leaped, danced and worshipped God and His King.

True worshippers are unmoved by the opinion or judgment of others.

True Worship:

  1. People: Lifting up holy hands in humility and worship will touch the heart of God.
  2. Posture: In the posture of worship our eyes will be fixated on our Saviour, Deliverer and King Jesus.
  3. Position: Earthly position, pride or power will mean nothing in the pose of worship.

A posture of worship with holy hands and humble hearts will move the heart of God.

Prayer: To You Oh Lord belong the greatness, the power, the glory, the majesty and the splendor. Amen.
