28 October 2025 – Worship – Part 7

John 4:24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

“Praise, Worship and Thanksgiving are the highest expressions of prayer”.

Worship is the undivided attention heavenward in Spirit and in truth. “Spirit” in the above verse is in capitals as it refers to the Holy Spirit. Without the union of the Holy Spirit we cannot worship the Lord. Truth in our words, thoughts and actions in response to the Holy Spirit is true worship.

When we tap into the realm of worshipping the Lord in Spirit and in truth, the needs, cravings, anxieties, stress, pressures, pain and suffering of the flesh and the world will be mutated. The burden about our health, wealth or career progression will dissipate into thin air. Carnal cares and concerns will stop taunting us and become immaterial in the presence of the All-Mighty God. Flesh and the worldly desires and distractions will lose its power and control over our mind and thoughts. The object of our worship will engross our mind.

If there are struggles in concentrating in prayer and worship it simply means that the Holy Spirit is not in control. Surrender the fears and fantasies. Foreboding is a nuance of fear. Voicing out our fears in prayer is not praying in the Spirit. Worshipping in truth and spirit breaks the fear and builds trust. True authentic worship is surrendering our thoughts, perceptions and apprehension to the Holy Spirit.

Authentic worship is beyond the walls of our prayer closet and churches. It is a lifestyle of dependence, surrender and obedience to the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit.

Worship breaks the control of our flesh and carnality over our body and mind.

True Worship:

  1. Surrender: Surrender will set us free from stress. After prayer and worship if our heart is still heavy with burdens we still have unsurrendered areas in our life. Submit everything that is bothering, distracting and consuming your mind and thoughts.
  2. Soak: Soaking in His presence delivers us from doubts, dread and despondency.
  3. Spirit: Worshiping the Lord in Spirit and truth magnifies the Lord bigger than our problems and delivers us from the fear of the future.

True worship mortifies the flesh and magnifies the Lord.

Prayer: Dearest Holy Spirit, break the control of the flesh over my thoughts and help me to enjoy your presence with undivided attention. Amen.
