04 November 2025 – Perseverance – Part 7

Luke 9:51 Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

“Perseverance forges our character to produce fruit”.

Perseverance is the discipline to follow the precepts and principles that will make us productive and purposeful. The life of Jesus is the perfect epitome to a perseverant and purposeful life. Therefore I have set My face like a flint (Isaiah 50:7). Nothing and no one could distract Him from His purpose.  Popularity or people couldn’t derail His plan. Jesus rebuked His right-hand man, Peter for trying to distract Him from His calling. “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns but human concerns.” (Matthew 16:23). All distractions from our purpose are diabolically driven to disrupt our progress. Perseverance is the fuel that keeps the momentum of our progression.

Peter assumed the position of a bodyguard to Jesus, the Creator of the Universe. He loved the Lord and His Master. His intentions were good but they were not right. He was trying to protect Jesus from the hands of the Pharisees who were plotting to crucify Him; however Peter was hindering Jesus from fulfilling the purpose for which He came to the earth. There will be people in our lives who mean good to us. Remember, what seems good is not always right. Jesus set His face like a flint and persevered to fulfill God’s plan and His purpose on earth.

Persevering and fulfilling God’s purpose is not always easy. It comes with challenges and even persecution. Charlie Kirk was assassinated as he preached the unadulterated Gospel powerfully. If you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God (1 Peter 2:20b). He suffered for speaking the truth and died a martyr’s death but the Gospel that he preached has exploded after his death.

Perseverance is the spiritual energy that fuels endurance to fulfill our purpose on earth, even unto death.

Perseverant are Purposeful:

  1. Fixate: The perseverant are fixated on their purpose and calling despite threats and challenges.
  2. Flint: The perseverant like Jesus, have their face like flint to accomplish their purpose.
  3. Focus: The perseverant are focused and cannot be distracted by anyone or anything.

The perseverant are purposeful and productive.

Prayer: Father Divine, embed your purpose into every fiber of my being that I might not be distracted by anyone or anything. Amen.
