09 November 2025 – Divine Power – Part 5

1 Kings 3:9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

“Divine power is authority over mind, man and mammon”.

Humility is the conduit, the cloak and the coat through which divine power flows. All of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5). Humility attracts the grace of God but pride repels it. God’s grace bestows on us blessings that we are unworthy of and empowers us with wisdom and power that we do not deserve.

Humility is not weakness, timidity or passivity but it is consciously walking according to the godly precepts and Biblical principles 24/7. Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches and honor and life (Proverbs 22:4). It is refusing to think, do or say anything contrary to the Word of God. Humility is to weigh the thoughts in the light of the Word before it becomes actions or reactions. Humility is richly rewarded by the Lord.

When the Lord asked him in a dream, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you” (1 Kings 3:5b),  Solomon did not ask for long life, riches, fame or the destruction of his enemies but asked for wisdom and a discerning heart to rule the people as exalted the Lord as the King over Israel. Humility draws honour and divine power.

Humility attracts Divine Power:

  1. Clothe: Humility is the attitude of the heart. Natural instinct of man to ‘praise’ is ‘pride’, so let us clothe ourselves with humility. Accolades will turn into arrogance if our heart is not clothed with humility.
  2. Cloak: Humility is the cloak that does not jump on us; so, we must intentionally put on humility every day.
  3. Crown: King David had 19 sons who are named and had other sons whose names are not mentioned. However, the Lord chose Solomon to inherit the crown and throne of David. Solomon was humbled, not puffed by the position he inherited. The cloak of humility attracts the crown of honour.

“Humility will be richly rewarded with earthly inheritance and divine power.

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, remind me to put on the cloak of humility and never be arrogant. Without you I can do nothing. Amen.
