Mark 11;22-24 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Doubt and disbelief are faith killers and prayer diffusers. The fiery darts of doubt from hell attack the mind, clouding it with confusion and countless imaginary outcomes to the trials we face. Doubt that travels from the head to the heart becomes disbelief. Faith resides in our heart (the inner man). Doubt suffocates faith and weakens it. To stop the darts of doubt from poisoning the heart we need the protection of the hope of salvation as our helmet. The mind is the battlefield. If the darts of negative, fearful and depressive/defeated thoughts are not quenched they would pierce through the head into the heart and poison it. Prayers with doubt and disbelief will not be answered.
The spiritual realm is the faith-realm. Without faith our prayers cannot reach God but doubt weakens the force of faith. When faith meets the power of God, miracles happen. The Powerful Prayer Formula is “Faith+Power=Miracle”. Fasting is the spiritual workout that strengthens the spiritual muscles of faith. Jesus answered the embarrassed disciples who could not drive out the demon in the boy with epilepsy saying, “But this kind does not come out except by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21). Faith is developed by fasting, praying and humbling. Flustered prayers with a doubting and disbelieving heart are not audible in heaven.
Overcoming Doubt and Disbelief:
- Capture: Capture doubt and disbelief before it lodges itself in the mind. Constant nagging thoughts about a problem cloud the mind with doubt and fear and poison the heart with disbelief.
- Crush: Fasting and prayer starves and crushes doubt and disbelief. Fasting disciplines our tummy, thoughts and tongue to replace doubts with divine declarations from the Word.
- Call: When doubt insinuates that you will be sick, broke and shamed, call yourself healed, blessed and prosperous. Call things that do not exist into being.
Doubt and disbelief are faith killers and prayer diffusers.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, keep me sober and vigilant to capture thoughts of doubt and crush them. Amen
