Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The nativity brings to mind a cold starry night, a smelly manger with bleating cattle, a shining star, shepherds, the first visitors of the Messiah, the wise men from the east with precious gifts, the teenage girl Mary, with her new born and Joseph, a man of integrity next to her. However, the nativity scene rolls back to many centuries before the night on which Jesus was born as a baby. The birth of Jesus was not confined to the nine months Mary bore the Messiah within her womb. This was the divinely orchestrated plan of the Almighty God to redeem humanity. The plan was first mentioned at the Garden of Eden when Adam fell into sin and sold the dominion of the earth to satan. “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (Genesis 3:15). For about 4,000 years the birth of Jesus was prophesied, planned and birthed by heaven.
Noah was one of the pioneers who set up the stage for the nativity in 3000 BC. God looked for a man who was righteous, blameless and faithful and God’s eyes fell on Noah. Then He wanted to set a family line apart to mark the birth of the Messiah and Abraham co-operated to build the nativity scene. The integrity of Noah and the obedience of Abraham laid the foundations for the arrival of the Messiah. The Lord God directed Abraham to circumcise his family as a mark of a consecrated life.
Like Noah and Abraham, God is looking for the righteous, blameless, faithful and obedient to continue the Nativity Scene on earth until His second coming.
We are part of Nativity:
