Psalm 144:13-14 Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields, our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.
According to Deuteronomy 28, ‘poverty, lack and depravity’ is a curse. Struggling to make both ends meet is a suffering that drains away our self-confidence. As much as “prosperity theory” that propagates “name it and claim it” is wrong, “poverty theory” that promotes living in lack as a blessing is also incorrect.
The Word of God teaches us that we will flourish in the famine. It does not mean that we will never face financial challenges but in a crisis, we will experience another facet of God’s abundance, provision and providence. This is true for those whose “God is the Lord God Almighty”. Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the Lord (Psalm 144:15). There are many who become guilty if they pray for their financial needs. God’s Word says that our barns and bank accounts will be full, our flock and business will expand and increase. There will be no breach, theft, loss or sudden disaster for those whose God is Jehovah Jireh.
Three keys to Financial Breakthroughs:
- Stay: Stay and strive through the famine in faith. Isaac was blessed with a hundredfold only because he stayed in faith in the land that was dry and parched by famine. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live (Genesis 26:2). Listen to God’s direction in a crisis and obey. Obedience is not always easy or convenient but it is rewarding.
- Sign: Remain strong in faith through the famine that those who trust in the Lord will prosper. Without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God (Philippians 1:28).
- Sow: Keep sowing in obedience. Faith waters the harvest.
“Stay, remain strong and sow”.
Prayer: Sovereign Lord, open my eyes to the truth to decipher between prosperity theory and promised blessings and help me to experience divine breakthroughs. Amen.
