22 January 2026 – The Blessed – Part 1

Psalm 112:1 Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in His commands.

The greatest desire of every man is to live a blessed life. We yearn to be blessed by the Lord.  We want special treatment and to be set apart as God’s chosen ones; however, blessings follow consecration and commitment. It is not because God is a hard taskmaster; He will not be able to bless the disobedient as the blessings would be abused if there is no dedication and faithfulness in the lifestyle.

Those who fear the Lord and delight in His Word are blessed. What is the fear of the Lord? “Humility is the fear of the lord” (Proverbs 22:4). “Humility is the meekness to accept God’s Word as the supreme guide to direct our decisions, choices and actions – even if it hurts or is uncomfortable”. Those who fear God will passionately walk in His precepts.

In general, people dislike rules as there is a sense of autonomy in humanity. We feel that we have lost control when we are under rules and regulations. Also, a sense of entitlement to have what we want can make us resistant to laws and statues. This is the root cause of all rebellion. However, those who fear the Lord and take pleasure and joy in obeying God’s Word fervently, automatically fall into the radar of God’s favour and blessings.

Favour of God follows obedience to His precepts and instructions.

Fear of the Lord attracts divine favour:

  1. Womb: The Lord will bless the fruit of our womb. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed (Psalm 112:2).
  2. Work: The work of our hands will be blessed. Promotions, praises and perquisites will follow those who delight in meditating and living according to God’s Word. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever (Psalm 112:3).
  3. Win: All things, including the setbacks, disappointments and delays work together for their good to those who fear the Lord. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright (Psalm 112:4). Adversity will become an opportunity for those who fear the Lord.

Fear of the Lord and faithfulness to His commandments unfurls divine favour and unimaginable blessings.

Prayer: Father God, I will live humbly before you and commit to walk according to your Word. Amen.
