Psalm 128:1-2 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.
It was not the sovereign plan of God that we must toil, stress and sweat to make a living. The Lord God gave us this earth to dominate and rule. However, Adam and Eve sold their birthrights to rule, became slaves to sin and brought about a curse on the land. “Cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life” (Genesis 3:17). Being born again as a child of God restores our birthright and breaks the curse.Fear of the Lord and faithful obedience dismantles the curse of toil and a cycle of lack. Refuting sin and resolute obedience to God’s Word will bless our barns, baskets and bank accounts.
We need not pray for prosperity. Prosperity follows purity. There was a famine in the land where Isaac lived and the Lord instructed him not to go to Egypt but stay put in land of the Philistines. Isaac obeyed and followed the Lord’s leading. As a reward of obedience, he became prosperous at the time of paucity. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy (Genesis 26:13). The Philistines became very envious as they were barely surviving and eating from the previous year’s produce stored in their barns, while Isaac was breaking down his barn and building new ones to store his new grain. The land of the enemy was dry while Isaac’s field was ripe and golden with harvest.
To the blessed, that are favoured by the Lord, famine is the time to flourish. Paucity is the time of prosperity. Drought is the time of abundant increase. The blessed that walk in the fear of the Lord and in submission to His Word live in God’s economy.
Promotion in recession:
- Basket: “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl” (Deuteronomy 28:5).
- Barn: “Your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (Proverbs 3:10).
- Bank: ‘The Blessed’ will lack no good thing.
Prosperity is the inheritance of the blessed that walk in the favour of the Lord.
Prayer: Holy Father, I will love your commandments and walk in your ways. Amen.
