11 February 2026 – While You Sleep – Part 7

Matthew 28:12-14 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”

The night guards outside the tomb of Jesus spread a very incongruous lie that the disciples stole the body of Jesus while they were sleeping. These guards were paid to stay awake and watch the tomb. The armed guards spread the silly and unbelievable rumour about the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus did not need the tombstone to be rolled away to walk out of the sepulcher. While they were watching the outside of the tomb the resurrected power of God invigorated every organ in the battered and broken body of Jesus and brought Him back to life. Even while the tomb was still tightly sealed, Jesus not only walked out of the tomb, he plundered Hades and redeemed the saints who were in captivity (Ephesians 4:9-10).

Jesus had informed the disciples over and over again that He would resurrect on the 3rd day yet, they were fast asleep. They did not wait outside the tomb to meet the resurrected Saviour. Yet, while they were asleep Jesus rose from the dead. The same resurrected power of Christ Jesus is available to us who believe. He is the God who revives, rejuvenates and restores.

Believe in the resurrected power to redeem, revive and restore everything that was stolen, lost and plundered from you.

While we sleep, God resurrects:

  1. Redeem: When we learn to trust and rest in His arms, while we are at sleep the Lord will overturn the plots of the wicked, frustrate their ruse and redeem what we had lost.
  2. Revive: After two days he will revive us; on the third day He will restore us, that we may live in his presence (Hosea 6:2).
  3. Restore: He will redeem the years that the locusts have eaten and the joy, peace and prosperity that the devil has stolen.

God will resurrect dead dreams, dead relationships and dead destinies – while we trust and rest on Him.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, My confidence is in you the Lord God my Redeemer. Amen.
