Proverbs 18:20 From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.
A stomach that is satisfied with good food enjoys a pleasant feeling of being comfortably full and content after eating. It involves both physical fullness and psychological satisfaction. Good and nutritious food in the right quantity satisfies and satiates the stomach. This is a beautiful analogy about the words that we speak. The words fitly spoken pleasantly satisfy the needs of our life.
There are many that wonder why their negative confession hit them back almost immediately but the positive confession dissipates into thin air. Faith is the force behind our words that brings it to fruition. Negative words from a fearful heart hurl back the very disaster that was spoken. Fear is the substance that turns negative words into ‘storms’ and ‘hailstones’ – causing damage. Whereas, words of faith based on the promises of God, become the wind of favour, the conduit to breakthroughs and the raincloud of blessings. Words that come out of our mouth with faith are powerful and effective.
“Our mouth must be hooked to our heart and not our head.”
Mouth that is hooked to the head is dragged by emotions and fear, but the tongue that is hooked to the heart draws strength from the faith. One day, the Shunammite woman’s son, who was born after several years of waiting, died. She laid her son in the upper prayer room that was built for the prophet and rushed to Elisha. All along the way she said, “It is well” (2 Kings 4:26). She repeated “It is well” until what was not well was made whole. She repeated “It is well” until her dead son was resurrected back to life.
Be careful about the words that you speak in a crisis. Do not speak words that will trigger the wrong result.
Positive Words are Powerful and Weighty:
- Wrought: Words wrought our future. The conclusion of a crisis is shaped by the words we speak. So speak the promises and positive words of faith.
- Weight: Words with faith are weighty and powerful.
- Watch: Watch what you speak. Death and life are in the power of your tongue.
Our mouth must only resound what our heart believes.
Prayer: Holy Father, teach me to speak weighty and effective words of faith. Amen.
