18 February 2026 – Words – Part 7

Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

“Our mouth must be hooked to our heart and not our head.”

The mind must mull on God’s Word and the mouth must munch on His promises day and night. The words of our mouth shape our future. The mind must regurgitate the truth that is stored in the heart to defeat the trillions of anxious, apprehensive and analytical thoughts that bombard our mind.

Joshua, the successor of Moses, was called to fill very big shoes. Moses was no ordinary leader. He was the pastor, prophet and the intercessor of the ½ a million Hebrews who were redeemed from slavery. Joshua had to not only lead them but also fight the battles and win the promised territory. The Lord God gave him the winning strategy in the above verse. He said; “shape your future by regurgitating, repeating and replacing”. Joshua had to meditate the law, repeat it with his mouth and replace the fearful thoughts with the promises. What we speak when we face a challenge, fashions our destiny. When we are angry, anxious or annoyed – we must learn to guard our lips. Zip it up. Don’t proclaim disbelief, doubt and distrust. The destroyer, the devil and his demons, are waiting for unwholesome words of exasperation to spill out of our mouth to invade our domain. Don’t open the door to the devil with your words. Tighten the bridle on your tongue when you are emotionally weak and vulnerable.

Meditate, Mull and Munch:

  1. Regurgitate: Recollect the miracles of the past when you face a challenge. Encourage and strengthen yourself. Regurgitating the mighty works of God will turn panic into praise.
  2. Repeat: Receive a promise for each situation and repeat it. At times, our feelings will be numb and dead but don’t wait for your emotions. Just obey – repeat and meditate.
  3. Replace: Replace the negative and pessimistic thoughts with the promises to overcome the perturbing qualms that flood your mind.

Shape your future by confessing God’s promises and words of faith.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, direct the words of my mouth to proclaim your praise and promises and help my mouth to be hooked to my heart. Amen.
