2 Kings 7:1 Elisha replied, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”
Breakthrough is not an ordinary advancement or a step forward. It is a dramatic advancement and a dynamic progression, breaking demonic barriers and demolishing the diabolical strongholds.
There was a severe famine in Israel as the enemy had laid siege in Samaria. All the food supplies had been cut-off and the people were scrambling to barely survive, but Prophet Elisha pronounced a profound Baal-Perazim prophecy that God will open the floodgates of heaven and turn the famine into bounty, overnight. The prophecy sounded impossible as the shortage was harsh. However, those who were able to put their faith in the words of the man of God and in the prolific prophecy were able to enjoy the abundance.
Faith is the currency that reaches out to touch the heaven to receive the miracle. When faith and the power of God meet, miracles happen. There was a man who was the king’s assistant that refused to accept or believe the prophecy and blurted out his unbelief. The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” (vs 2). God’s Word came to fruition at the appointed time but the unbelieving officer only saw it with his eyes but could not enjoy the abundance. He died in a stampede at the city gates the next day.
Faith is the catalyst that opens the floodgates of heaven to overturn the crisis into blessing. ‘The greater the faith, the faster the flow from heaven’. Faith is the divine language that completes the divine transaction.
The Floodgates of Baal-Perazim:
- Seek: In a crisis, seek the Lord for His promise and prophecy. God speaks to us through impressions in our heart. Seek, hear and ruminate.
- Knock: Keep knocking and confessing the promises even when the situation is grim and gloomy.
- Walk: Walk in faith not in fear. Boldness is the force that accelerates faith.
Faith opens the floodgates of Baal-Perazim.
Prayer: Father God, help me to stand firm in faith and on your word. Amen.
