Deuteronomy 28:13 The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
We have authority over the circumstances and challenges we face. We are not under any circumstance but above ONLY. We are the head as we lead and will not be dragged around by the circumstances like a tail. We are not under the weather, the political volatility, financial crisis, recession or depression.
When God created the world He gave it to humanity to rule, reign and subdue the earth. A ruler has a throne, authority and a domain to dominate. All of God’s creation has ears to hear and obey when the righteous speak in divine authority. Hence, when Joshua spoke to the sun and moon they heard him and stood still. Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon” (Joshua 10:12). Joshua spoke to the Lord and the sun and moon obeyed.
Similarly, Elijah shut the heavens for 3 ½ years. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years (James 5:17). We can subdue the crucial circumstances, climatic conditions and challenges when we carefully follow the Word of God and are obedient to His voice.
Exercise your authority over the circumstances and challenges.
- Righteous: Righteousness makes us powerful in the spiritual realm. Divine authority comes with wisdom, ability and intelligence to outwit the enemy in any challenge – “Purity is Power”. We can speak to the emotional, financial or health challenge that comes against us and subdue it.
- Rights: We must operate within the “rights and privileges” that the Lord has given us. The Lord fulfilled the words of Elijah as he invoked God’s command in (Deuteronomy 28:23) with authority at the appropriate time.
- Rulership: We must break free from the slave mentality and exercise authority as sons and daughters of King Jesus.
We are not under the world system but under divine authority.
Prayer: Father God, transform my thinking and give me a son mentality to walk in authority. Amen.
