11 March 2026 – Power and Authority – Part 7

John 11:26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.

Death anxiety or ‘thanatophobia’ is an intense fear of death. About 20% of the world’s population are gripped in the fear of death. Likewise, a significant percentage of the population live in constant fear about the future and suffer from anxiety disorder which leads to depression. Dread, depression and despair are satan’s weapons to constantly torment humanity. However, we have the authority to crush all devious devices of satan under our feet. Jesus disarmed the demonic realm and has given us the authority to triumph over them. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:15). Jesus stripped satan naked of all his arms and armaments.

Jesus made a profound statement to the grieving family of Lazarus. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die (John 11:25). As Christ’s followers we need not fear death. The earth is only a short temporary stay to build our permanent home in heaven. Righteousness on earth sends building materials and imperishable treasures to heaven. Hence, fear of materialism and worldliness that leads to eternal darkness and not death that promotes us to heaven.

Exercise your authority and live in freedom.

  1. Dread: God’s kids fear no bad news as our God who is bigger, mightier and more powerful than the man, monster or mountain that we face. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord (Psalm 112:7). We have the authority to drive out dread, demolish mountains and triumph over the monster.
  2. Depression: Depression is a distressing spirit that is insinuated by despair. Overcome insecurity, inadequacy, inferiority/low self-esteem that leads to depression by putting on the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3). Worship is the antidote to depression. Sing, don’t sulk.
  3. Death: We don’t have to fear early death as He has promised, With long life I will satisfy him (Psalm 91:16). When our assignment on earth is completed, we will move to our permanent home in heaven.

Exercise your authority over dread, depression and death and enjoy freedom in Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, set me free from fear and empower me to enjoy freedom and liberty in you.  Amen.
