Luke 10:38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him.
The culturally rich cities, Tokyo, Rome, and Paris are the top three most favorite destinations in 2026. Our favorite destination for holidays would depend on our needs and expectations. Some love beaches and Islands while others would prefer nature, adventure, cultural diversities or history. By and large people look for a holiday destination to rest and relax.
Jesus had a favorite destination where He would recline and put up His feet. It was the house of Mary, Martha and Lazarus, in Bethany, (a small village on the southeastern slopes of the Mount of Olives). The village was about 2 miles or 3.2 km from Jerusalem. The home of these siblings was a convenient transit point as Bethany was situated on the road between Jerusalem and Jericho. More than the location it was the warmth of this family that drew Jesus to their home. Martha, who was the older sister, invited Jesus and opened her home to Jesus and the disciples.
Jesus chose to recline and rest in this home as there was love, thirst and hunger for Him. The younger sister, Mary, sat at the feet of Jesus and soaked in all His teachings like a sponge. But Martha, the host, was more concerned about the dinner that she was going to serve Jesus rather than feeding on the spiritual food that He served them. Jesus advised Martha to choose the one thing that is necessary which is “His presence” but He also revealed a profound secret about His favorite destination. Jesus enjoyed visiting their home because Mary enjoyed HIS PRESENCE and Jesus enjoyed her company too!
Choose to hang out with Jesus and you will become His favorite destination.
God’s Favorite Destination:
- Hungry: The Lord’s presence will rest in the home and heart that is hungry for Him. He will enjoy our company if we talk less and listen more to His still small voice.
- Hurry: It is not difficult to hear God. Don’t rush through prayer – the stillness of our soul makes His voice audible.
- Hearty: An enthusiastic hearty soul that hungers for God’s Word is God’s favorite destination.
Hungry soul is God’s favorite destination.
Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me your ways so that I might know you. Amen.
