05 July 2021 – Secrets – Part 4

Luke 2:19 “But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

Mary hid the prophecies about Jesus from the angels and prophets in her heart. There were two saintly prophets Simeon and Anna who prophesied about the miracle baby Jesus when He was taken into the to be consecrated. Mary and Joseph were speechless with surprise at their words. Mary’s perception of Jesus was based on the prophecies that she treasured in her heart.  In John chapter 2, Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding in Cana and there was scarcity of wine. Theologians say that it was the wedding of Salome’s son, Mary’s cousin. Mary, (who was probably overseeing the wedding feast), went straight to Jesus to fix the shortage. Where the mind goes the man goes. Behind the curtains in the kitchen, probably, the wine pots were watered down until they could glean the last drop of wine into the goblets. There were no supermarkets for Jesus to rush to buy more wine; Mary came to Jesus anticipating a miracle. The secret meditation of our heart are the hamstrings that  unlock miracles in our life.

Three causes and effects of our meditation that holds the hamstrings of our action:

1.     Turndown: Many commentators argue on the reply of Jesus to Mary as raspy and rude. Jesus didn’t turndown Mary’s request; He just waited for God’s divine timing. We don’t see any more interference from Mary after she instructed the servants to follow the directions of Jesus. The confidence in her heart brought the divine solution. The secrets that we treasure in our hearts will assure that miracles are unleashed at God’s perfect timing. The secret of God’s promises reveal that we are not turned down but only being tuned in.

2.     Water-down: Jesus waited for the kitchen assistants to water down the wine and the wine pots to become completely dry before He got them to fill the water pots.  He waited for the guests and the chief guest to notice that the wine quality was thinning down. There must have been a widespread upheaval of uneasiness in the party.  When our resources are diminishing, when the prognosis is threatening and when the hope is being watered down, reflect and ruminate on His promises.  Luke 1:37 For no word from God will ever fail. The secrets of prophecies reveal that might be watered down but will never be letdown.

3.     Teardown: When Jesus turned down the request of Mary, she realigned to work with God’s timing and told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5b). As Mary pondered about her miraculous son Jesus for 33 years, she understood that her traditional thinking must be torn and turned down. Our ways of thinking must be completely trimmed, pruned and kempt to be obedient to the promises of God. We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Gnawing on God’s Word will teardown conventional thinking and build up confidence that He will never fail.

Hidden secrets of God’s promises and prophecies will strengthen the hamstrings of assurance and will make us walk us into divine destinies.

John 2:5 She went ahead anyway, telling the servants, “Whatever He tells you, do it.” (MSG)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I surrender defeating negative thoughts that sever the hamstring of miracles. I am willing to do whatever you ask me to do to unlock divine blessings in my life. Amen
